The final day!

Do we have to blog about this week? Just for the word count:

I don’t even remember what we had on Monday, but on Thursday we had our final presentations. Every group presented and I’m happy that so many groups made a video. The final day was also streamed live on periscope. Don’t know did we get the 1000 viewers or not, but at least a few.

I think of leaving this blog here open and maybe I will forget it and then someday after fifty years I will discover it again. Maybe.

This is the last post. Bye!

Monday and Thursday

On Monday we only had  and one hour lecture from Katja Järveläinen from Gapps.

She told us about the company and shared  ideas of the future. Gapps specialize in teaching Google tools for companies and help them with something (using those products?).

Katja was one of the best speakers we have had because she spoke really good English, her lecture had a clear structure and she seemed to know about what she was talking about.

According to Katja, this is what happens in the future:

  • Time of price competition will be over (service oriented is the new thing)
  • Customer is the king
  • To gain commitment from employees, leaders must understand their motives (people need to enjoy working for the companies they work for)

Here are the tips from Katja on how to be a good leader:

  • Build teams
  • Creative thinking (Leaders should do it and also encourage others)
  • Communication skills

On Thursday Arman Nuri (our own team coach) gave a lecture about content marketing.

Here are some points from the power point:

  • Content that are wanted to market should be reliable, valuable and relevant
  • The key of content marketing strategy is that the results are easy to measure and content should be interesting for the audiences and answer to their needs.
  • Successful content marketing:
    • Coca-Cola drinkable ad (the video)
    • Apple vs. Samsung

After Armans speach, we had few group present their ”sharing-is-caring”- teaching moment.

The topics were:

  • about video making
  • podcasting
  • giving presentations.
  • timeline of digitalization.

We presented our own ”sharing is caring” presentation few weeks ago already.

Bye Bye!

Is this week 11?

This week (Monday and Tuesday) we had a law week! This week was the most interesting for me so far. I wish we would have more of these law lectures.

Our lecturer was our teacher Marjaana. I like her lectures because she has a very clear and consistent presentations (and interesting topics also).

I learned that in Finland:

  • The law is mostly on the side of the consumer/buyer (”the weaker side”)
  • There doesn’t exist yet any comprehensive law for the internet selling and social media marketing In Finland.
  • Seller has to deliver goods in time, in right quality and in right amount
  • If there is something wrong with the product, the seller has to make up it somehow. (Seller can either repair, give the goods free or give discount).
  • people can sign a binding agreement from the age of 18 years as long as they can take care of their own things.

Our group work topic was social media marketing law issues.

Until net week!

Team coaches’ lectures

On Thursday(?) Jabed talked about Search Engine Optimization. He told us why it is necessary. Here are the bullet points he had:

  • 72 % of searchers stop with the first 10 of search results.
  • It is cost efficient
  • Visitors through organic search traffic.
  • High on search engine rankings

After Jabed’s lecture Ilkka gave us some critique for being  a bad audience because some people were TALKING during the lecture. He also said that repetition is the key for learning.

The other guest speaker to give his lecture was Bui. His topic was customer oriented search and serving online.

These are his bullet points from ”customer-oriented features” topic:

  • FAQ solutions
  • Multichannel support (companies answer to customers with personal links and messages via social media and livechat)
  • Satisfaction surveys

He said also that companies will provide online chats with the customers.

This was all for today folks! Until next week!

Almost Over…

Hello!

This was our second last week and we had lectures  only on Monday. Our guest lecturer came from Rainmaker and the topic was selling online.

Things I found important:

  • There is a difference between NEEDING and then WANTING things: customers will come back for the sellers who filled their NEEDS
  • It is important to understand the behavior of customers and this talent is more needed online than in person
  • Online channels should not be taken as an extra task
  • Companies should let same people to take care of the online marketing as well as the traditional way

After this, Ilkka told us about the rhetorical theory of Aristoteles and how it can be used nowadays also.

Satisfy customer entirely: HEART, BODY and SOUL

Logos: convincing customer to buy with rational reasons

Pathos: Win customer’s heart by fulfilling the promises that advertisements have given.

Ethos: Why does the company exist

I kind of understand this but on the other hand I don’t really know how to explain it to others. (This topic was also in the test…)

On Thursday we had our exam. Was way more time consuming and  I didn’t have patience to do it as good as I could of done it. I know these things but I am a terrible writer.

Title

Today we had two guest lecturers. The first one was Jaakko Alasaarela from ZEF Solutions Oy. The mission of the company is to help people on decision making by providing applications such as Vaalikone and Hauvakone. Zef Solutions Oy has been voted? the second best place to work in Finland and its goal is to be the best.

What I learned:

  • write down your dreams
  • don’t give up
  • you need to have a personal cause – write it down
  • LOVE: love other employees and customers
  • PASSION: lets change the world, do things immediately and don’t give up
  • BE BRAVE: do not fear

The second Guest was Camilla Tuominen from Emotion Tracker Oy. She told us about emotions and what they are. She had many creative pictures about not giving up and why should we continues despite our feelings. The main point in my opinion was that we must keep up own own personality and don’t hide our feelings.

These two guest speakers were in my opinion the best we have had so far. I’m a bit annoyed I have to take notes for this blog, so I cant just listen but I have to write everything down so I remember what they said when it’s time for writing the post.

Monday

Today we had two guest lecturers. The first one was called Sofia Auranen. She has been living in Espoo for 2 years. At the moment she is working in a different company, but she has been working for Kakkugalleria (2007-) and somewhere abroad (Uruguay). After she came back to Finland she got a workplace immediately.

  • She had no marketing budget in Kakkugalleria
  • Connecting with customers in Facebook, IG and Twitter
  • At her current job she uses SurveyMonkey and MailChimp

The second guest was Hanna Sirama. She has had some troubles wit her own start-up company, but now shes back again with a new business idea. I don’t tell anything about it so that nobody can steal the idea from her.

We got a group task as usually and our group is meeting on Wednesday.

Week 44

On Monday we had a guest lecturer Ilpo Kärkkäinen who is a music producer and a DJ. He has been making music for over 20 years, and he has had his own blog for 5 years. His blog has over 1 million visits and he has on average 30 000 visiters per month.

This is what I learned:

  1. Blogging is a powerful learning tool
  2. Blogging can become a solid business (affiliate marketing)
  3. Blogging connects you to people and opportunities
  4. Blogging helps in creating clarity and achieving goals in life

Ilpo could have had more slides/keynotes to make his lesson more clear and interesting.

He is using WordPress (like I am). It is great for SEO. He also recommended to use Google analytics and Google trends.

Email marketing tools: mailchimp (free), getresponse.com (paid).

On Thursday we had our first exam. I think it went quite well but I can’t be sure if my answers were long enough. I like to answer briefly.

Task: Reviews

Good Morning!

Here are the reviews of some of the blogs from our digital business course. I didn’t write too much, because I don’t want to form any opinions for you. I linked the blogs there so you can go and read yourself and like (or dislike) them according to your own vision. Here you go:

Anna’s Let’s Get Digital -blog. You can find it here.

Anna uses the smallest font of these five blogs I reviewed for this post. Not as it matters but just saying. She has plenty of text and pictures and she has analyzed her learning very well.

Ada’s My Life with DigiMonster -blog. You can find it here.

Ada has quite similar style of writing as I have. She has many pictures and she has drawn some of them herself. The blogposts are easy to read and she summarizes the lectures very well. I like the way she doesn’t bring her personal thing to her blog.

Teemu’s Blagdigiblahblah – blog. You can find it here.

Teemu writes a lot! He has very much text and only a few pictures.  He says what he wants and tells how he feels about the lectures and the topics and tells what he finds interesting and useful. I don’t critisize him for not having pictures because I don’t have them either.

Krista’s Business according to GamInk -blog. You can find it here.

Krista has a very personalized blog! She doesn’t tell only the mandatory things but also everything what is happening around the school and her projects. She writes a lot, but has also many pictures to balance the text load. I like the way that she has the courage bring herself out of  the mass.

Sonja’s Code With Me -blog. You can find it here.

This blog is made and powered by lily.com. Her blog is very easy and clear to read. She has a nice way to activate the readers by asking questions! The posts have pictures, that’s a plus.

All the blogs are great and I had a good time reading them!
